Is it possible that being beautiful makes you more "UN-lucky" in love?

In the world of fashion, celebrities, money, and fabulousity (eh hem, our DREAM world), it seems like our favorite celebs have it made. The "lifestyles of the rich and the famous" have created this swarm of celeb-fanatics (myself included) who are obsessed with the perfect faces and seemingly perfect lives of our favorite fashion magazine cover landers. I recently stumbled upon a quote from the exquisite Ms. Halle Berry and I can't stop pondering it.....When questioned about how her beauty has helped her attain success she had an interesting response.

"Beauty? Let me tell you something: being thought of as a beautiful woman has spared me nothing in life. No heartache, no trouble. Love has been difficult. Beauty is essentially meaningless; and it is always transitory."

We're talking about THIS Halle Berry, right? Love has been difficult for HER? Really? Her beauty has spared her no heartache? It poses an interesting concept and I can't help but think about some other beauties that have been similarly UN-lucky in love.

or dare I say.....

As 3 of the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, my chances must be REALLY slim OR perhaps it's true... Is it possible that being beautiful makes you more "UN-lucky" in love? Hmmm.

My first single holiday season in 3 years.....

I cannot believe that Thanksgiving is in just 2 days! This year's holiday season will be quite different for me, my first "single holiday season" in 3 years. Although the thought of not spending gobs of money on presents for a significant other founds FABULOUS (my EX and I always went all-out), I can't help but feel a little "down" about it. One thing I can surely say is that this Thanksgiving I will be more grateful than ever for the family and friends that have supported me for the last few miserable months of healing from my first big breakup. The gratitude I have for them is more than I can express in words and more than enough to keep me optimistic for the 2009 holiday season and 2010! And although I do not have NEW YEARS EVE plans as of yet (AKA no one to kiss at midnight), I know they will fall into place as they are meant to. "The universe sometimes has more interesting plans for us than we have for ourselves ~Laura Dave," right?

And so, my "What I am Thankful For List" starts something like this:

God (for helping me to fall asleep at night when I didn't think it was possible)
Dad (for giving me the sometimes painful true insight into a man's mind)
Megan (for being thankful to have her single friend back and.....for never bringing HIM up)
Lexi (for being there for me from 1,000 miles away, giving me HOPE for the future)
Vicki (for truly giving me a new perspective on life....."Life is full of experiences.")
Nicole (for inviting me to Chicago and spending a fabulous "girls weekend" with me)
Aaron (for taking me out and showing me some of St. Louis' best and most romantic spots)
Cory (for reaching out to me and reminding me of our time-tested friendship)
Misty (for giving me a super cute post-breakup color and cut.....and listening, hehe)
Cousin Ashley (for listening.....and for the beginning of a beautiful friendship <3)
Countless other Aunts, Uncles, and cousins (for support, words of wisdom, and just privacy and time)
MOM (for being YOU)

"At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us." ~Albert Schweitzer

I'm curious.....for what (or for whom) are you thankful for this Thanksgiving??

Welcome Letter

My name is Kelly and WELCOME to my very first blog! I am so excited to get it up and running and read everyone's comments! I have always enjoyed writing and began reading blogs while I was in a relationship with my first serious boyfriend a couple of years ago. I loved reading blogs about relationship advise, beauty tricks, and the like. It was so great to hear other women's stories and read comments from women who seemed to be going through the exact same things that I was at the time. When my relationship ended in August I turned to blogs once again to help me get through it. Trying to focus on myself once again, I wrote a list of "Things I wanted" in my life. At the top of that list was "I want to become a blogger". Here I am! This quote from Barbara Deming really resonates with me: "We learn best to listen to our own voices if we are listening at the same time to other women--whose stories, for all our differences, turn out, if we listen well, to be our stories also." No matter how old we are, where we are from, what we look like, or where we are in our lives...our stories are similar. Thus, we can not only help each other, but we can learn and grow from one another as well.

So...From fashion to relationships, and daily thoughts to favorite products...Let's discuss!!*** :o)

HOW cute is Carrie Underwood??

So who saw the annual CMA awards last night? I can't help but thinking that Carrie Underwood is quite possibly the CUTEST thing ever! Although I LOVED the majority of her dresses last night, this is definitely one of my favs. That color green is SO pretty on us blondes. GREAT JOB, Carrie (on both hosting and making every girl in the country jealous of your looks and your proximity to Brad Paisley all night)!!
